Is childhood anxiety on the rise?

As kids we had a lot of freedom, to make good and bad decisions and live with the consequences. There were of course a lot of accidents. Lots of kids got hurt or worse. In comparison, children are (generally) more closely watched now than when I was a child. Today’s kids are not so free-range, but they are not battery hens either. Perhaps we can call them “barn-raised”. They have a bit of space, but they don’t run free.
